Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
